A Litre of honey weighs about 1.44 kg so a 10 litre bucket should hold 14.4kg of honey which is just under 32lb.

Local baker sells them off at 40 p per time. Ex jam or custard cream buckets. All as good as new. Just bought another seven due to my bumper harvest.

Beefriendly ... our association used to purchase them in bulk, but not the numbers Hivemaker quotes. I think the final charge to members was about £1.40 and that included a 5% markup for club funds etc. It's an obvious thing for cooperative purchasing - easy to store, no shelf life, impervious to vermin etc. Where there are county associations - there aren't up here - it could be done on a larger scale = bigger savings.

Roger is a real star .. such a nice helpful man, really nice company to deal with and the only complaint I have is that their deliveries usually arrive EARLIER than I have planned ... and I get the Spanish inquisitiion from 'er indoors about what that great big box with Paynes Bees on the tape is .... not more hives ? Used not to be a problem - but when Teg next door died his widow got rid of the wood burner - I've had to find a way of concealing three already this year
