Collecting a colony from a chimney pot

Yesterday I removed a colony from inside a disused chimney. I can't be certain I got the queen (infact i doubt it) so I left the hive on top of the chimney stack with all the comb in in the hope the remaining bees make there way in. How long would you suggest I leave it up there one or two days?
I was thinking go back tonight later on to collect it.
