hi
Any tips for removing the fine residue of wax that remains in the holes of the stainless steel strainers

thanks

B.

I just scrape out the majority and then rinse the strainer with cold water a few times ... it's usually just honey residue holding it together, once you have washed off the honey with cold water it's fairly easy to get the remnants of wax out of the strainer.

I would read the wikipedia article on caustic soda before trying this.
Caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) is one of the nastier freely available chemicals. It burns human tissue with remarkable ease. Even in a dilute form it can be corrosive. Years ago we used it in the glucose refinery to regenerate ion exchange cells and one was dripping from a bottom joint. The shift maintenance engineer sat on the floor to reach underneath to tighten up the bottom flange bolt and his overalls soaked up some of the dilute liquid. Unfortunately this was in the crotch area and despite moving fairly rapidly to change the wet clothing he walked bow legged for a week as his scrotum suffered the effects of contact with caustic soda. Red plums anyone?

Washing soda is much safer!
However a squirt from a hosepipe is all you need.
