can you have too much insulation ?

Interesting Parglye. Wood looses heat from all over, look at the loss through a presumed open mesh floor...poly loses little and nothing from roof or edges, which confirms what I measured with an IR heat gun.
I'm quite happy with the insulation my standard Payne and Abelo hives provide; without adding any unnecessary (IMO) extra insulation.

Yes I have had condensation on the clear quilt of a Payne Poly Hive. Not had any problem over wintering though. I do wonder with the small amount of condensation the bees can use to soften Ivy Honey during the winter however.
 
I prefer the aesthetics of wood, but the two old paynes polys I have always got condensation on crown board. Cured by two inches of celotex stuck to top of roof
