Good morning Night owls, just catching up on feeding and how quick do they take down inverted syrup, twice as fast as normal 2:1

Cant see they would take it down any quicker, they should be able to 'process' it a bit quicker once it is in the comb though.

a few of my nucs were not taking from rapid feeders so I changed to jar feeders.they are taking it quickly now its above their heads

:iagree:
but they do!, and that's bees for you, I didn't really believe it until i saw it for myself - as one great philosopher said 'you never can tell with bees' Mine didn't even need the obligatory dribble of syrup down the middle of the feeder, within seconds they were up there taking it.

Was your rapid feeder a frame feeder? If not then surely it would be above their heads.

You have changed from one large feeder to a small contact feeder and the smaller volume will look like it is going down fast, also bees do take from contact feeders when not from rapid feeders but the problem is they often dont have a choice. Still a good feeder in the right situation.

Thank you all so much, I'll get right onto it. you have been so helpful, I've been so worried!

The space for the colony needs to be reduced. Seems like they are very (even extremely) unlikely to fill all the available space. It matters not a jot what they may then be fed with now, but certainly fondant later.

KISS principle.

like all girls, they always take the more expensive item first

The quicker they presses it the quicker they can take more down, simple I thought or am I missing something in the production line
