I felt bad just after my return from South Africa in 2007

I'd been nibbled by the Mozzie's

John

Nibbled by the Mozzies, Eh, ??

I bet that's as painful as getting shot in the Dardinelles !!

(only kidding :) :cheers2: )

Very wise Baggy, well done.

My Dad made it to 83 with type 2.

They told him he needed a quadruple heart bypass.

He said 'sod that, I'd rather die'.

And so he did.

I had a quad bypass op in 2003 - for me, it was one of the best things that ever happened.

Then in 2004, at the age of 59, I started a window cleaning business!

I'm told that "most" people who have this type of surgery end up with Diabetes within 5 to 10 years.

Don't know if that statement is based on statistics or hearsay...

Well done with the window cleaning. Just 'what the doctor ordered', but I bet it took some effort.

Personally, I suspect they already had the diabetes, but it was latent or undiagnosed.

In my experience it is partly hereditary and the rest due to diet and lifestyle.
