Dadant ... the bizzo. I replaced an old small smoker last year and have been delighted with the Dadant. Easy to light, large volume, stays alight. Cannot be faulted in my mind. I also looked at a Rauchboy at Stoneleigh and thought the Dadant was better quality.

Not much call for a smoker until next season now ... why not wait until some of the vendors have a Christmas sale? I got mine for the VAT-free price from MB ;-)

We have a MB smoker - stays alight and burns down to last of shavings couldn't ask for more.

Yes, need to frequently scrape the tar off or the lid won't even close!

Surely the amount of tar is dependent upon the material you are burning, not just the construction of the smoker?

Yep.

The dead pulp or punkwood is the best because most if not all the resins and sugars have broken down and leached away over the years, giving cleaner smoke if you get my drift.

Would people recommend the dadant one then - it's out of stock everywhere so dont know if that's a good sign or bad!

How many you want? Pool your money and I will ship you a case of them. I would even trade, ship me a clockwork type I will send you a dadant.

Thanks for the advice - today the old smoker has had a full service. Taken apart, new holes drilled, wire frame inserted to keep the holes clear, re-riveted and cleaned.
Hey presto - its smoking like a good 'un !!
Guess the new one is on hold for a bit.
Thanks for saving me some £££££

Heh, the yellow homer is actually half wooden and works a treat, the tubes can be turned inwards and as she hangs there the tubes wafts smoke over the frames nicely.
She has a stop valve on the top which can be regulated to burn very slowly.

Still love the Vulcan clockverk and will get one soon as tokens are plenty.

A wooden one, Hmmmmm only kidding :)
