Of course there should. But I add my point about the rim on the cover board, one has to post with beginners in mind.

Why do you need a top bee space if there is a large gap at the bottom? Is it just so you can put a feeder on top?

One wonders how one might fit a feed into a bee space.

One might think the question arises because the poster knows not what a bee space is, or is for.

I thought Midland Bee stated the requirements very precisely. I answered your reply with some fairly precise details of the workings of a removable frame hive. Your response - grunt. A grunt as a reply deserves little more comment than 'go and find out', which is where I pointed you toward. I might be good that you understand binary.

Why so agressive Rab?
I dont claim to be an expert and I might misunderstand some of things explained here and sometimes I may not express what I mean properly, but other people on the forum dont appear to have lost patience with me yet.

My original question was basically why is it necessary to have a top bee space in a nuc where there is a large space at the bottom?

If this annoys or iritates you as well. Please dont bother to reply. I really dont want to get into a pointles escellating argument.

I answered that question precisely: The bee space is the basic principle of the removable frame hive. Without it the frames are not easily removable for very long.

Your grunt of a reply provoked the read it yourself option of googling Langstroth where all the information (which is repeated in umpteen bee books) was to be found. The bee space is the underpinning method of actually having/keeping removable frames. It is the basic principle of the removable frame hive.

Your next post was the escalation. That was for sure. My response to yours was only predictable. I gave you relevant information up to that point, it did not particularly irritate me. That post did - just a tad, so I responded.

There is only one person on this forum where I simply smile at the posts and quietly think 'get on with it'. If you do not want the experience I can offer, please, by all means put me on you 'ignore list', but just don't 'grunt' and 'call names'.

RAB may have a style that is not alway silky, but SixFooter, your comment in post #17 was totally uncalled for and did yourself exactly no favours.

Time to move on to a new subject perhaps. :grouphug:
