also try gilles fert queen breeding and richard taylors comb honey production book...could not find my comb honey book so googled around and see theres an updated version by the guy that owns/makes ross rounds...some good details/ideas in the above

I wouldn't know where to start.
But for what it's worth I've not come across a beginners book that wasn't riddled with error's or mistaken beliefs or idea's. I suggest you see if your library can order some for you and try and see what suits your reading style. Some are real bores.

If I was going to recommend one book I'd suggest "Swarming and Its Control and Prevention" by W Snelgrove and it's not an easy read. Plus he got his main premise for swarming (excess nurse bees) wrong but he well and truly nailed the nuts and bolts of swarming methodology and accurately describes many of the other methods still used today in control or prevention of swarming. Prevention and controlling are separate entities and are rarely (if ever) dealt with in beginners books, but are important as it gives you so many more options.....and no you don't need to follow his timings for opening entrances on the snelgrove board. But you will understand swarming control if you take your time and think each of his steps through and the rationale behind them.

Simple, Smart Beekeeping by Kirsten Traynor

Haynes Bee Manual by Claire & Adrian Waring

A Practical Manual of Beekeeping by David Cramp

Honey Farming by R.O.B Manley (my fav, but old)

Coming out next year: Interviews with Beekeepers by me!

Some good ideas have already been mentioned. Some local bee associations/societies do have some specific well written information, but you will have google it all, as you live in Portugal.

Murox; but you will have google it all said:
is that not why god invented amazon
