oh yes, I remember now the new hive on the Cathedral roof, not too bad with heights but usually leave ladder work to the young lads

Fair enough, but the impression I got from the OP was that he was referring to particular conditions in particular colonies. If we're just saying 'it's that time of year', the first swarms were reported a couple of weeks ago.
