Wasps managed to finish off a colony of mine last October. I certainly spent time in the 'kill em all' camp for a time. However, thanks mainly to this forum, I was able to properly understand that wasps merely exploited an opportunity that was made possible by another problem in my hive.

Not only have I learned from last year, but thanks to Karol et al., I have a much better understanding of the wasp-bee relationship. What I saw last year was nature doing it's job on a colony that probably wasn't viable. Colonies this year, so far, are shaping up to be strong. I'll be vigilant, but not neurotic...

And I'm seeing numerous wasps in my garden each day, and have been since April. Fingers crossed that I'm not eating my words come august...
