Lifted the roof today to check.

They’ve taken a little bit of the syrup, but there’s 20-30 dead bees in the syrup.

I’ve never known the bees to drown in syrup in my rapid feeders.

Is the smell/fumes from the HiveAlive killing them?

Yeah nectar is coming in.
So no ned to feed then, hence their reluctance to take it'

Nope, nothing to do with the snakeoil. some years you won't get a single casualty with a feeder, others you get loads, just one of those things

With rapid feeders I have had less problem with drowning bees after roughening the surfaces they walk on with very coarse sandpaper. The moulded ridges in the plastic don't seem "grippy" enough.

I've tried out some poly feeders with no luck at all , decided to remove them , add an eke and place inside two of the smaller round feeders ,bees are taking it down lovely ,I think the warmth of the hive has kept the syrup at an ambient temp. The poly top feeder was so insulated I think it was keeping the syrup cold .
