I have not much luck with chimney bees. They are laborous take off.

But if the colony have not yeat brood, put a larva frame into a store, then other combs and put store over the chimney. Probably during 24 hours the queen rises to the box onto brood frame.

I have also not had the best of luck with bee's in chimneys,usually a waste of time.Last one's i removed i just smoked them out until they were clustered on the outside of the chimney,then up into a swarm box.Lost quite a few going down the chimney, but got the main one(queen) and they soon built up to a strong colony.
