Maybe this is a daft question, been past my hive today counted 8 dead bees on snow and 3 were dead on mouse guard i know bees die in winter but is this too many in 1 day. Hive feels ok weight wise

Sounds like they might have been lured out by the reflected light- have you got anything shielding the entrance?

TOBY-3652,

Bees get drawn out by the light reflecting on the snow and then usually die of the cold. If you haven't done so yet you should lean a board of something on the hive to shade the entrance and stop the light.
