Ahem. Those of us born there think we are not as funny a lot as the Welsh and my husband thinks that me having six fingers on each hand is quite useful for lifting frames.

They're not a funny lot on the IOW ... it's just that everything happens in slow motion and they just look funny. The mainland has been trying to build a bridge to get there for about the last 50 years but they're having none of it ... it's only recently they've let Supermarkets in ...

As for getting there ... most expensive journey in the world on a cost per mile basis ! And anything that gets sold over there is at least 25% more expensive than over here ...

I love the place ... Bacon sarnies anchored in Newtown Creek on an autumn morning - as near paradise as you'll get anywhere and the sight of the Needles with the tide still with you after a force 7 channel crossing - relief beyond bounds ... keep the pollution from the Mainland out I say !

Oh and the best bit ... keeps some of that nasty South Westerly weather off my garden !
