Hi i have been told that bees have three dances that they perform to show how far food is does anybody now what the three dances are i now of the wagle dance :cheers2

I know of different varieties of the waggle- a circle if near and varieties of the figure of 8 to show distance.
And has it really been proven that another bee will headbutt and interrupt the waggler if that second think pesticide problem with the advertised source?

I believe they do the actual waggle dance- figure of eight with the waggle in the middle- for sources over 100m away, then for closer sources they do either the circle, or a more open C- shape- but I cant remember which means what. I suspect the answers are in 'the buzz about bees' but it's not my birthday yet. :(

There is also shaking dances and DVAV (Dorso-Ventral, Abdominal vibration) to encourage more bees to recieve nectar and also to recruit foragers.

Adam
