I received an email from B&Q this morning detailing the honey extraction equipment that they stock.

Have they only just started selling this or did I just miss it in the past?

The prices quoted for the extractors don't seem much less than those available by ordering directly.

Do you think this is a good or a bad thing?

Looks like they don't really have it in stock at all and they're just fronting for a drop-shipper. Could be that someone relatively high up in the management chain just decided that they needed to sell bee-keeping gear for some reason. Perhaps (s)he had heard that it was an upcoming thing.

Thanks James, that was broadly my thinking having recognised the photo's and specs were pretty much copy and pasted.

Kind of surprised that they are not offering some basic hive starter kits as well in that case.

I would broadly welcome more competition on price in general than these offer. Curious as to what the returns policy would be and whether it at least had the advantage of greater security, with it being from a retailer with a physical prescence.

Curious as to what the returns policy would be and whether it at least had the advantage of greater security, with it being from a retailer with a physical prescence.

Seems not much different to eBay or similar. You have to "agree" with the 3rd party vendor first.

And also appear to trade/have traded under the names "Easibee" and "Actiasbee" and have associated brands that suggest to me that they just buy certain ranges of stuff from (probably) China that they can easily drop-ship.

They do however say on their website that they are "completely dedicated to your total satisfaction", so I shall be phoning them tomorrow to ask why the hell they haven't delivered my free Ferrari 246GTS

I am not allowed to go to b and q on symbols orders, as I can never find anything worth buying, or of sufficient quality to buy,even if it purports to be what I need. I come back in a foul temper, kick the dog, and swear never to go there again. Unfortunately optimism occasionally outweighs experience, and I try again, only to be disappointed...

That sounds like a teenage Saturday night out which ends with ejecting the evenings intake of refreshments and fish & chip supper into someone's privet hedge and vowing with streaming eyes "never again". Optimism normally overtook vowing in less than a week.

It is at least three years since the last foray. I came to the conclusion that I could make better light fittings than those they had in offer. So I did.

The one good thing about B&Q is they do free cutting of sheet timber.
If I need new crown boards I go there and get them to cut an 8x4 sheet into 460 squares.
Much easier than struggling to get a full sheet home.

Very small crownboards then if you get 460 out of an 8 x 4 sheet !
