is it wise not to?
:iagree::iagree: you can only tell the condition of brood when there are fewer bees on a frame, you could try brushing them of gently but bees get stuck in the brush and in my opinion upsets the hive more than shaking

I do shake frames but only super frames. I read that you shouldn't shake frames of the brood frames because you could dislodge the eggs/larvae. Makes sense.

How would you check you hive for foul brood without shaking as I can insure you that if a bee inspector came to your apiary, and he will, he will defiantly shake your bees

We shake frames when doing disease inspections and scratching swarm cells, otherwise you may miss something they can hide!
