I overwintered 2 nucs (L/s jumbo). They are side by side in the apiary.
Nuc 1 2010 mid season queen, reasonable strength and is OK and now has 2.5 frames of brood and is building OK.
Nuc 2 was a late 2010 queen and was small going into winter but has survived. It currently has 1 frame of brood and I continue to feed in frame feeder. It's build up is slow.
I have a 2011 mated queen arriving end May.
So, shall I unite nuc 2 with nuc 1 now and let them build, taking 2 frames of brood + some bees from a stronger colony when the queen arrives or shall I persevere with nuc 2 until the queen arrives and introduce into this nuc which by then should have at least 2 frames of brood?
