After doing an inspection today I noticed quite a large amount of bees underneath the open mesh floor. This seems to have happened since the entrance block was reduced due to wasps. Any advice please.

Block off any space under the front of the hive or landing board... they are probably picking up a stronger scent from the mesh floor than the reduced entrance...dim witted bees.. they usually find their way in eventually... there are other possibilities... I had a mesh floor nuc where the queen died ... or was killed.. not sure but she ended up on the mesh floor and there were nearly as many bees heading under the
Nuc as in at the entrance ... had me really puzzled until I found the dead queen.

Change to a solid floor? :lurk5:

Sorry - I use solid floor and that doesn't happen. Maybe take the boxes off the floor then shake bees into the hive then put back together again?

If your concerned have a quick look tomorrow, not the first time I would have seen a queen on the outside of a box after an inspection
