I did an A/S for the first time last year, however, I am expecting to have to do another before long.

I used mostly undrawn foundation in last years A/S for the flying bees to draw.

Would it be OK to use mostly drawn frames, or do the flying bees need undrawn foundation to help them to think they have swarmed and have found a suitable cavity ????

Many Thanks.

:thanks:

I don't think it matters BUT good drawn brood comb is not easily come by and a swarm is the best way of getting good drawn worker comb. Why waste the opportunity IF the bees really are in swarming mode but feed them if there is not a steady flow.

Thanks.

Feeding is another issue, I have lots of winter store in both National deep brood and super frames, the store is made up of syrup and fondant.

What would be the best way af feeding it back, without the bees filling them with fresh store.

I could do with the empty fames back.

Thanks.
