so I need to check my hives today (7th day since the last one) ... was going to do it yesterday but we had heavy rain ..

so should i be out there tonight with a brolly up ..or gazebo ? .. and get stuck in regardless ?

I have a demarree on one hive so definitely need to check that one hive ...but how long do I have ?

It is a calculated risk!
If you think it is necessary then do it. If you can risk a swarm then wait but be prepared for loads of queen cells when you do inspect so have a plan. If a single hive owners then I wouldn't take the risk

One of the advantages of clipping queens is the extra time you can have between inspections as it is rare for bad weather to last continuously for 10 days

Unless of course you live in the UK.... I have 2 hives on demaree and none of them have tried to do any QCs in the top box. I tend to move capped frames to further reduce the risk.

Im in the same situation. Everyday ive been free to inspect its raining heavily.

I have inspected in rain today: but only mini nucs- trying to find a laying queen,,,, none out of 12 nucs.(too soon for most)

yes I was late doing this one .. jbm said it was 50:50 ... and doing the rolling brood swap between the bottom and top ...

golf brolly out after work then !!

I'm going right now, no rain for next 2 hours I hope, I am geared up as I know bees ain't gonna be happy, but I have no other choice.l, I have already waited too long

did brave the light rain last night ... and glad I did ...they weren't happy but good to get the queen cells trimmed down on the problematic demarree double brood ...its now back to double BB with a single qc as its clearly queenless

will visit the others friday pm when the weather says I will have better luck
