Two of mine in an out aipiery. Reasonably well screened from the road, no footpaths!

I'm sorely tempted to put out a bait hive now!

Any distinguishing marks? Labels? Anything that would help us spot one, say at an auction?

Alas no, but each has some "short" frames which belong in a non-standard hive!

I've just ordered the branding iron (yes, stable doors come to mind ;) )

You'll have to catch the buggers first - no shortage of volunteers to hold them down for you though, but I'm sure some hand wringing liberal would make a fuss though - thieving pi_y ba****ds

Hi John

Sorry to hear about the theft, that's a worrying development for this area.
I know the area quite well as I used to live in Kintbury for many years and am still local. It really has to be someone local don't you think, coz it's a real maze round there.
Always got lost going to the Swan! have you reported the theft to the local police, they have a rural unit now.
Are you a member of Newbury or Vale and Downland BKA ? perhaps you could let them know about the theft, the more eyes and ears that are alerted the better, I could do that for you if that helps.
If you think there is anything I can do to help just shoot me a PM or post here.

The gutting thing about it is even if they did get caught with the equipment and bees they'd likely get off scott free anyway. So frustrating :hairpull:

Not if you knew who they were...

Spray them with syrup and throw a nuc of angry bees at them! Poetic justice!

I would not waste the syrup on them:nono:

But other thing do spring to mind :sport-smiley-002:

Out of interest - (I have my hives, some in garden and others in out apiary about 20miles away) - what sort of distance away from their home to members of the forum have their hives?

In the garden, 150ft from the house.

In the garden and on a smallholding just over 3 bee-miles away.
