Silly me. You can just about see that the zip for my hood is not actually zipped up.
At least i got to demonstrate the "lets just walk away while I get the bees out of my hood" technique - only three stings.
That Smith frame is a little annoying too. It's the last of the ones from the original nuke and I haven't got rid of it yet.
On the plus side, all looked well (queen, eggs, brood, etc), and my daughter came away saying "I love Dadies bees".

Love your daughters suit. C

Ouch I bet you look a picture today.

Looks like a nice strong hive by the way.

I did that first inspection this year! Don't you just love that 'why aren't those bees obscured by the mesh' moment? :)

At least you remembered the important thing- zipping up your daughters suit! :nono:

Hi Adrian and Daughter,
Well done in all respects to you two. Have to google and see if you can get any fitting gloves for your daughter. Beekeeping for children and youngsters (in case she reads this) is big on the continent!

Nitriles fit tight and come in all sizes, hygienic and cheap. My 11yo (and 21yo) wear medium, they come in small too and you can wear one over another if wished. Make sure they are the 300mm long ones to give a tight fit over the cuff (or wear gauntlets)

nice photo was the stings to the face and neck area, and how was the reaction

Thanks for all the comment everyone. New gloves are on the shopping list.
Ref the stings, I've been very lucky so far and hardly react to them. After about 20 minutes there's nothing to be seen but the hole.
There was one above my right eyebrow that I could still feel this morning when I pressed it, but there was nothing noticible to see.
It was one on the back of my neck that alerted me to the problem but that was forgotten straight away and not thought of again until just now:)

We've noticed that her veil need pulling away from her face a bit before. That's not all I'll remeber to do next time:)

As advised elsewhere on here, a peaked/ baseball cap keeps the veil from the face.
Tim
