The 14X12 referenced has frame end bars exactly 12 inches (304mm) long and a brood box that is 12.5 inches (317mm) deep. Unless my math is off, that is 1/8 inch too deep for the brood box. It won't be a problem unless a 14X12 is used as a honey super in which case, a lot of burr comb will be built between the boxes. One thing I like about the Square Modified Dadant is that the frames are 11 1/4 inches deep and the box is 11 5/8 which gives 3/8 inch bee space.

And this all makes no sense. You can nurse bees with one frame size whole your life.

My professional friend has used mere medium size frames last 40 years in whole hive because his back bone was surged at the age of 30 y. And he gets average yields which no one get in UK.

And many woman beekeeper use only medium size boxes because they are not able to lift langstroth boxes.

We had this year in our forum a beginner who was going to start beekeeping with small cells and with breeding varroa tolerant bee strain.

To make the biggest frame in the world is not actually so bad. Just do it. Old farts or books cannot stop you. No one needs that frame but it is biggest.
