Being a complete newbie and starting out i know i have lots to learn not only about the bees but equipment also.
I am starting to get bits and pieces and today i bought a ten frame paynes poly nuc as it was cheap, along with other bits and pieces.
What am i going to do with it.?
Do i use it for a swarm if i get one or is it too big, if i need to split my hive and stop swarming. Or can i just use it as another hive instead of buying another one.
Have i made a rash decision.

I assume by 10 frame nuc, you mean a nuc with 2 brood chambers! Paynes nucs are 6 frames though.

OOOPS sorry about that yes it is 6 frame .I cant even count now apologies. Yes thats the one Murox.

OK now that's cleared up, you can collect swarms with it, overwinter small colonies and do artificial splits. A very useful piece of kit.

So can we assume that you will be acquiring a british national hive, because Paynes poly nucs are with/for BS frames. Have a browse in Thornes they give sizes and a brief description of most equipment.

Welcome full frame. Hope you get to enjoy this fascinating hobby. Before getting any more kit I suggest you get a good beginners book. Haynes beekeeping manual is often mentioned on here. Ask Thornes to send you their catalogue. There is lots of good info in that not just for buying stuff. Starting out is a steep learning curve.

Already got a hive maismore national poly hive and set up with a colony. If weather permits will do my first inspection tomorrow 7 days since the bees were introduced. I have been keeping a watch and they are coming and going and some with pollen showing but weather has been windy and rainy last few days here. if yutube ever shuts down i dont know what id do.LOL.But reading as much as i can . Got an experienced beekeeper coming to check the hive this week and ill post the outcome. Thanks again for showing interest and comments.

As you have an experienced person coming I suggest you keep out of the hive and open it together; any questions that you have/arise can be answered directly and practically. Oh, and take tube with a huge pinch of salt, there is some really good stuff there but also a lot of questionable ideas.
