10 Typhoons, 9 in red arrows diamond style formation.
I know it was rumoured that the red arrows may be getting them, is anyone out there in the know?
Is it just me that thinks perhaps in these austere times, when we struggle to afford to feed our bees through the summer, that maybe they should of gone for something a little cheaper when they get pranged.

can't believe they'd use typhoons for display, much too expensive, 'cheap' little hawks do fine imho lol

maybe they should use the harriers, imagine the displays they could put on:biggrinjester: and they'd be put to some use

The typhoon should be almost safe from collision with one other close jet, I would have thought. Technological advances and all that. Even motor vehicles have automatic 'keep your distance' technology.

Apparently they are practising for something, anyone famous got a birthday coming up?

Aren't Harriers obsolete? I think the Hawk is on the way out too.

just being replaced, doesn't mean obsolete.

not heard anything about hawk being on the way out soon, the engine could go for many more years, as could the pegasus.

Must keep our lads up there at all costs..... imagine we could be all have been forced to speak some foreign tongue... Dutch, German French... Spanish or even Argentinian... or some other invading force of our Sovereign Lands

IMO of course

Of course - that's why the Americans are busily building them after we gave away the rights to them (our newly decomissioned harriers were sold to the US for 'spares' as well)

on the bright side it'll bring a few million in for RR if the US keep em!

I take my hat off to the armed forces, what a brave bunch

Very sad to no longer have the pleasure of seeing the Wittering boys performing locally in their Harriers.

great plane, solely missed.

Our newly decommissioned harriers were refurbed and sold to the Americans for less than it cost to refurb them.

yet other govt cutbacks will save a fraction of the same cost - sickening really :banghead:

Harriers retired and sold on before we even have a replacement, no wonder the argentinians are starting to get brave, we couldn't do bugger all if they did re invade!
