    The importance of being stung.

How exactly do people acquainted with beekeepers get 'exposed to bee protein'? I assume this means bits of bee? After all protein isn't like fungal spores... Or is bee protein floating around beekeepers like some sort of radiation? Obviously it can't just enter the body so must be ingested or...

    Uniting large colonies.

    Got my vote.

    Hive Robbing

What about making the entrance deeper? I have seen people using tubes for entrances, so the guard bees have a long narrow choke point to defend - backup arrives quicker, and the invader is repulsed (often killed).

Homeopathy. The idea that the more you dilute something, the stronger it gets. (Already not true) The average remedy is 30c, which is 30 to the power of a hundred. That's the equivalent of one ml of 'active' ingredient diluted in an Olympic sized swimming pool, bottled up and sold. Which...

    Ley-lines and bees

This is a really good read on a rational approach to dowsing: http://www.skepdic.com/dowsing.html An extract on skeptical thinking: Most dowsers do not consider it important to doubt their dowsing powers or to wonder if they are self-deceived. They never consider doing a controlled scientific...

    Ley-lines and bees

An 'open mind' is something that is often brought up when there is a lack of evidence. Actually an open mind leaves you susceptible to lies, misdirection, and misinformation. A sceptical mind serves you much better. You get to challenge the information and let evidence convince you of its...

    Ley-lines and bees

I'm still chuckling at 'iron deposits' in the brain sensing magnetic fields. Wouldn't the tinfoil hat interfere? :)

    Ley-lines and bees

I would be surprised if we are the only life in the universe, however we are the only life we can prove due to limits of our exploration. However as interesting as all of that is, this thread is about dowsing and ley lines. Something that has been available to us to prove for a very long time...

    Ley-lines and bees

Actually I would argue it's the ones who refuse to believe in nonsense without evidence are the ones who search for the answers and make the discoveries. Not the snake oil salesmen and the quacks....

    Bee Excrement & Neighbours

Go to Halfords and buy him a car cover. It'll cost very little but the gesture might go a long way. That and a couple of jars of honey... Don't get me wrong, the guy is a waste of space. But that doesn't mean you have to stoop to his level.

    Drones with white thorax?

    Drones do not forage.

    Out apiary

Very responsible, too much shrugging off of responsibilities going on, it's so good to see someone take it head on. It's irrelevant if it was your bee or not, how would you live with yourself if anything happened? Thankfully you have a good result with the local association! Credit to you.

    Moving stores.

Thanks Finman, sound advice, makes sense to just let them use it as a super and extract it. One question, will they move the pollen down and leave just honey?

    Moving stores.

I have two deeps, both filled with stores, pollen and uncapped honey. I want the bees to take the stores out an leave me two deeps with empty drawn frames. I am thinking of putting them above the crownboard, with a little hole for access... How long do you think it will take to clear down? Or...

Uniting 2 paynes poly nucs - easiest way

Transfer each nuc into hives as normal, just have them both dummied down. Then unite as normal (getting rid of a queen etc) with newspaper. Couple of days later when the newspapers gone, consolidate frames into one box. Keep it simple.

virgin queen mating with drone/ own drones

Simple way to check, seal up your hives after dark, then go check the forage for honey bees the next day. If you see some, they ain't yours!

Swarm control by killing the queen

Bit more info would be good. How much space have they got? Or not as the case may be!
