Vegan Honey from Bury St Edmunds at our local market. Priced at £5.00 for 190 gm. Bit high for lavender flavoured golden syrup though.

    Modified bacteria targets varroa

On the other hand millions of people would have died if penicillin had not been developed to combat infections. Let's not knock this work. Killer bugs to wack varroa mites sound like a good idea.

What's flowering as forage in your area

Ah, so that's what they are doing. I thought I saw something that looked like a trace of pollen....….your eyesight obviously better than mine!

What's flowering as forage in your area

Sunshine and double figure temperatures here but a chilly little wind keeping temperatures down. Plenty of bee activity though mainly orientation flights. Snowdrops and aconites in full bloom. Also daffodils but I can't see any pollen or nectar going in.

How do you extract the propolis

So the options seem to be: 1. Dissolve propolis in alcohol. This produces a solution but you end up with a concentrated alcohol liquid which may not go down well in the marketplace 2. Mix propolis with an oil or cram of some sort. This does not dissolve the propolis, but "carries" small...

So as there is no definition the packers and resellers are at liberty to put whatever...

What's flowering as forage in your area

Mahonia going over now but snowdrops are opening and some daffs showing a bit of colour. Bees out today, but they are mainly interested in gathering water.

    Newbie by the sea

Any tips on bread making? Do you recommend knocking back? Some do, some don't. My efforts always end up like bricks - at least they give the family something to laugh about.

    Suits and sizes

It all depends on the size of your guests. I bought all my suits online, and none fitted properly. The best solution I found was to take the veil off one suit after it had been ripped and replace with a veil/vest. Far quicker to slip the veil on after lighting the smoker and fewer zips etc to...

    Blackthorn flowering now

Here in South West Suffolk some buds starting to swell but still curled up tighter than a nun's nonny.
