Would anybody recommend any particular beekeeping tuition vids from YouTube? I'm trying to sieve out those that are not good.
To me the value of Youtube videos is to see bees in other people's hives. There is a lot of "wisdom" on Youtube that is dodgy, but even so, you can look at the bloke's bees and even get a few ideas about things to try or to consider. For example, much of what Cody Reeder says is not relevant to me, but he does have over 50 videos and he shows a lot of bees in them.
The majority of good videos are lectures from the United States, so much of what they're saying don't even apply to the UK or EU. Examples include Knox Lincoln County Beekeepers's 6 hour-long classes and the 11 hour-long classes form "Ashland, Virginia". Or, you can search for the names of well-known bee people e.g. Michael Bush, Mike Palmer, Keith Delaplaine, and Thomas Seeley, to find lectures or web casts by them (usually with PowerPoint slides).
A useful trick is to download the videos to your hard drive, so that you can more easily fast-forward over the bits that seem uninteresting. For some lectures, if the audio is of good quality, I watch it in 1.5 speed using e.g. VLC Player, which means I get the same amount of information in less time.
Someone mentioned FatBeeMan, but he has only 6 videos, and none of them more than 10 minutes long. Unless I'm looking for something very specific which can be explained in under 5 minutes, I tend to limit my searches to videos of 20 minutes or longer.
You can also search other video services... e.g. on Vimeo are a few lectures that aren't available on Youtube.
