pollen stores having been carried through the winter (?)

We have pollen from first May to August. In forest areas pollen ceases at the beginning of August when fireweed stop blooming.

Lack of pollen in late summer tells to bees that winter is coming, even in Central Europe. UK has that special ivy on maritime area.

Winter Bees

Hi All, have watched my bees bringing in masses of ivy pollen and in big loads is this primarily to store or is it to fatten up the winter bees so to speak.I never cease to be amazed by nature.Just been watching the birds in the garden going mad on the feeders never seen as many, they must know something.Ainsie
