Bees still taking syrup, I am using Hivemakers thymolated syrup so it should not ferment when do I need to stop. I have a couple of hive stopped taking it but other still munching it down.

Is there a temperature that I should stop at or do I just keep sticking it in while they take it

Jeff

sorry - i wasn't referring to those across the dark river. i was referring to Friends of Solanum tuberosum. (and yes i accept that a certain favorite PGI pastry based foodstuff contains tatties - and neeps for our scots friends)

the vocal scottish contingent on here i'm sure would suggest that 2:1 is fine for the next month or so.

Aye we are also down here to help you and educate you "cultural ambassadors" we call ourselves.

But I would think that you would find that we scots that are in the homeland would have finished feeding syrup to our bees a while ago its guy cold up there the noo with little chance of evapourating the excess water in this weather.

For some reason i thought the temperature for stopping feeding syrup was 15 degrees...

as our local weather is supposed to be back to 14 degrees by the weekend, I might carry on feeding.

the BBC suggests it is going to be mild next week.

It may well be going to be 14 degrees down here but up there it hasnt been that warm nor is it projected to be. Anyway I was just raising a hat to Mr stitson there as he was hoping one of the scottish contingent would

Usual advice round here is feed until they won't take any more. Then you know when to stop!!!!

The beauty of feedng thymolised syrup is that it wil not ferment so if the bees do not cap it it will not give them dysentry, better if it is sealed but who is going to open them to see certainly not me

If you have enough stores in the hive then you don't need to feed.

Ah but then Hebeegeebee, IF it turns colder, the girls might start to eat their stores, better to feed Fondant Now, and they don't even think about using the Stores, just get on with the fondant. Very changeable weather here in Kent at the moment, but still bringing in the pollen today.
Bob.

If it gets colder the bees will cluster and reduce fuel consumption. If there are enough stores, there are enough stores. Jeff has not said how much he has. Feeding blindly for the sake of it doesn't make much sense to me.
