Making needles for stuffing stuff up a queens ****** is easy peasy in comparison. Still think £5 a needle is steep.
.
You may not like it, but, that's how much they are.
Anyway, I was helping someone out. Not charging them for it. The price only came up because I was asked a question.
As you know, it's not as simple as "stuffing stuff up a queens ******".

What happens when you squeeze a mature drone then B+?

In my experience their endophallus shoots out and they ejaculate. It's very simple. What isn't quite as simple is recovering their sperm without mucus etc into micro-syringe.

.....and you've contaminated the sample. It's no good and you killed the drone for nothing.

Do tell us how you **** drones then B+. Sue Povey (?) squeezes them in her video.

The organisation to set everything in place to do the easy bit seems the big part to me.

Yes, that is the most important and time consuming bit.

Just did the easy bit inseminating four queens half an hour ago, should be laying in four to five days time.

....and this is why people who know what they're doing don't post on this forum anymore.

You rather shot yourself in the foot here B+...I assume you are still going to post.
P.S. humour...

If I have any kids that's one thing I will have to be careful about. I work with computers and spend upwards of 8 hrs a day in front of them (plural  ) and I don't want them to see that as an example, at the same time I don't want to ban them from using social media because in this day and age it would make them social pariahs.

Fortunately I have hobbies that should help balance out the thing, like fishkeeping, beekeeping, baking, cooking, soap and candle making, and so on. Also living in a village in the countryside should help.

Re Queened two colonies yesterday with Ged Marshal mated Queens.. i will check on them in a few days to see how the bees are behaving around the cages and maybe remove the candy plug tab or not.. ? ..
I must say though the service and communication from the company was second to none..a quick phone call to organize payment then the Queens where posted Thursday and arrived on Friday fit and well..

Took 8 frames of sealed honey and replaced with 8 wet frames from extracting. It was the most intimidating beekeeping experience I've had - a double brood colony that is bursting with bees and they were very miffed with me. No stings though. A number of wasps were attracted to the hive after, by I assume spilled honey, so after dark I washed the hive down and hosed around the hive where the supers had been placed. Peace and tranquillity was restored by this morning. Placed entrance block in a colony still building up from swarm capture to hopefully prevent robbing by wasps or my large colonies.
