Read a fascinating article about the upcoming winter .

Usually regard long term forecasts with absolute scepticism as the Met people regularly tell us they can reliably predict no further than 5 days, due to ever hanging weather patterns.

Though this article spoke of the fact that the Gulf Stream average temperature for the whole summer has been approx 2 degrees below normal and will stay lower during winter.

As it has a huge influence on our Atlantic weather patterns, the expectancy is for much more snow and below par temps.

Now isn't that just wonderful !!

Mind you pluses and minuses to everything, perhaps the cold will mean less energy wasted by the Bees , tighter clustering

After a non existent summer straight Into the Lions Den, (sorry To the real "Into the Lions Den", for the plagiarism ! :). )

perhaps the cold will mean less energy wasted by the Bees , tighter clustering-

More energy lost to the outside, I think. Simple Physics.

Or, perhaps you should just keep your bees in a freezer?

Tried that... Find that no room for my Ice pops..

Also whe power goes they tend to break the cluster and head straight for the tub of Hagen Dazz.... Not a pretty sight !

Some say... Albeit not as learned folk as you....!!!

That the much varied winter temps we get, 13 one day minus 1 few days later, leads to bees constantly breaking cluster and expending valuable energy. Simple Physics... Mind you don't think there is such a thing !
