It was the comment on hair turning white overnight that did it. Mine mostly has whereas yours has decades to go - and we are just about the same age (you've reminded me now that I'm just a bit younger). Maybe a life in science is more stressful than running a bee business?!

Yes, honey harvests are fickle things. The damp and relatively warm run of summers we're in could be excellent for honey crops if only it would ease up at the right time.

Glad to see your realism on AGW. I've been surprised to see the extent of scepticism shown by respected beekeepers, especially on international fora.

Just got back from a midday swim, water temperature is still 24C. Air temperature up to 29 today and forecast to go to 31 tomorrow. Excellent as we had heavy rain last week and colonies are still laying drone eggs which means we will have drones till early December so we can continue queen rearing. The bee eaters departed southwards 10 days ago and we are getting queens mated again after they decimated the drone population during their 3 week passage here.

So what happened to that expanding hole in the ozone layer that was all over the media like a rash a few years ago that was going to fry us all, it got smaller lol, so what scientist did not know they speculated and got it wrong again

Err The refrigerant gases that caused the problem - fluorocarbons, especially chlorofluorocarbons - were phased out in fridges, air conditioners etc.. And fridges etc recycled carefully.. And that had the desired effect.
