So it looks like it's going to be mild next 2 weeks or so with temps to a possible 18 degrees on Sunday... What issues will this bring to us????

I know will need to keep an eye on stores as they will eat through quickly in the warm weather but what else to look out for? If it turns cold again what issues can that cause?

To be honest youve answered your own question its all down to stores, with the good weather am sure her maj will bump up the laying as the cluster can expand. If we get a cold snap then the bees will have to turn up the heating and consume more stores but they are more than capable of doing this.....and theres little we can do about it apart from topping them up if needed

I start light feeding sugar solution /pollen patties now . Judging by most hives lots of stores left (most went into winter weighing 40kg+ - my limit is 35kg) - but colonies are brooding - and some are doing it on several frames judging by the heat and so I expect most stores to vanish in next two months.

But give me an accurate weather forecast for two months and I'll be more precise :paparazzi:

Starvation. Whats the early pollen and forage in the vicinity of your hives ?

I was told we are due a blast in March, something about jet stream flipping around, but who knows. Conditions are so changeable in this country predicting 1 week ahead appears iffy

What warm weather?! more winter to come, then all will be wringing their hands and wetting their knix about another 'Beast from the East'

Only for the Welsh, The rest of us will bask in 20C days, balmy nights and lots of spring honey .. whilst the Welsh dream of it and write poems about it. :paparazzi:

Ive whacked a kee of fondant on 4 of my 6 and put the 50mm board back on. Now i can relax in the sun. Its the fear in bee keeping that makes it such a stress reliever.

After many years in the oil and gas offshore business where forecasts are critical information and very expensive to boot, they are basically loo paper.

So on that basis forget it and look at the sky.

If the bees get carried away and lay up massively in a sudden warm spell followed by a cold spell what do they do?

They chuck out what they can't cope with. Simple and ruthless.

Beast from the East?
That's old news now, the Hacks at the Beeb will have worked up a more sinister name for the next snowfall.

Probably have names on file along with locations they easily drive out to (with several tons of recording equipment) and film those (apparently) "Cut off by the severe weather"! :paparazzi::paparazzi:

P.S.
That's if they don't have a National Election to cover????:ot:

I Vaped a few hives this week, and got what I consider a heavy mite fall. All hives got a single vape Christmas week, so it looks like Winter long brooding and heavy infestation come Spring.

Last year's first snow of the winter

Not been anything like that in sunny South Wales. We had fog until midday. 12 C maybe this PM.

It is certainly a one of here and it is supposed to be the same over the weekend..however from experience i am certain we will get another cold snap sometime soon and in to April...i hope not but it usually happens..

Yep - often had snow on my birthday 6th April - when I lived in Cumbria at least.
