My hives are being attacked by army's of hungry earwigs mostly on the underside of the roof and crown board.... But more annoying is a few that are inside the hive in space under the top of the frames next to the frame runners.......

Does anyone have any top tips to eradicate them, considering changing my hive stand set up so each leg is coated is something nasty that earwigs hate?

What are earwigs after in the hive? Honey, brood, wax?

They have a penchant for Varroa apparently !

Try some grease around the hive stand legs or some double sided heavy duty sticky tape ...

But best check your varroa situation if you haven't already ...

Hmmm, just treated with MAQS initial heavy drop but by day seven not a lot was dropping....

It's a waste of effort, they don't cause any concern and you won't stop them. They will get into the roof space via the vents. Though their wings are not really efficient, there is enough evidence that they can and do fly so a change of stand won't help much.

+ if you coat the legs of the stand with wax, all you will get is earwax.

I think they are more annoying to humans than bees, If the bees didn't want them there they would soon remove them
