Have two small (4 frame) nucs requiring treatment.......

One in poly and one in home made wooden boxes

Question is....

Has anyone used small amounts of apiguard direct on top of brood frames....as in put on with a spoon /spatula?

I am thinking of doing this but thought I would ask the experienced forum members first.

Or are there other workable alternatives you could suggest?

My three other hives I have just put MAQ's on tonight so hopefully it will hit the mites big time and give the colonies a better chance of building up with clean bees before winter.

HM thymol mix (appropriate volume for hive size) applied to folded kitchen towel.

but if you are using MAQS why not cut down a strip for the nucs (half or third dose each).

thanks for that.....have no strips left so would need to open hive(s) and cut from the strips I put in tonight.

Will search threads for HM Thymol mix ...is that Hivemakers per chance?
