I inspected 7 colonies today and took alcohol washes on 4 of them and so far have found zero mites. B+ challenged me to do mite counts. Have you ever analyzed the statistics of zero?

I'll leave the varroa killing to the experts, my bees.

What I would do with beehives, which are not able to bring honey.
I have had varroa 34 years, and my yields have become bigger all the time.

You have other serious problems in your bee genome, if they are not able to make more honey than that..

Read and learn from UK beekeepers... and our excellent varroa control research.
Yes.

34 years too Late.
.
There was European Union Varroa Group during years 1998-2004.
There was a member place to the British, but he did not participated to the project. I heard that there was difficulties to get money from EU to members.

That project has made recommendations, which we have used now. Britain invented that recommendations are against law.

I know British varroa research very well.

And I hope that Britain researches the method, how "Do Nothing" method works in practice.

It's often suggested that Apiguard (4 weeks treatment) should be started around now so at the end of it the hives can be weighed and sufficient 2:1 (thick) sugar syrup fed in time ...
The weather varies from year to year so the pedantic approach is just that. Often a later cycle is successful but you are the beekeeper and it's your decision (and possibly gamble)...

start treating early September, if it's sublimation, you can leave it a little later still

I do my mite bashing mid to late September then get feeding

Thank you GJ and JBM.
