Unusual Behaviour

Hi, had some unusual behaviour from my bees last night, i went into the kitchen around 10pm and theres two bees flying around, I caught them in a cup and returned them to the hive, as I shone my torch on the entrance to the hive, I could see alot of bees had congregated there, they seemed really docile, this has never happened before. When i got back into the kitchen, there was two bees back in there, seems a bit strange..... Any ideas?

Hi Racey, mine do the same..just enjoying a bit of cool evening air on the balcony..nothing to worry about. Do you have an open mesh floor.. One thing to check is that they do have enough ventilation, I posted a note in the beehaus forum yesterday with the same question, the beehaus does have an omf, but no top ventilation so wondered if this would matter. Think not as long as long as there is air getting in from somewhere.. Anyway, not sure about the bees in the house but the ones making the most of the varandah is nothing to worry about.

Thanks Gary, yes i have an open mesh floor. It was a scorcher here yesterday, so thats answered my question. All seems back to normal today......
