treated timber

Hi folks, just wondering if some offcuts of tanalised timber which i have would be ok to use for hive construction ? Or will the tanalising cause problems. Thanks, nuc.

I was advised against using treated if possible, but I'm sure you'll get a whole range of for's and against's

The treatment protects against decay and insect attack and I have seen a residue form on some treated woods, something that I would'nt my bees near.

treated timber is ok for roofs and floors, wouldnt use it myself for the brood or supers

Would it be alright for top and bottom runners ? I have used lathes for these and routed the gaps out.
