Tracks of light

[Angularity]

I want to take a picture of the bees coming and going from one of my hives. The site is sheltered, with a panelled fence as a dark backdrop. The idea is to do a long exposure when the sun is shining on the bees but not on the hive or backdrop, to track the bees as lines of light against the fence. Does anyone have any experience of this kind of thing?

A neutral density (ND) filter will allow longer exposure time. Good project, don't forget to post your results.
