Temp here yesterday maxed at 7C and at this time is 2.5C with snow in the rain.

A drop here on last week of a mere 14-16 degrees C.

Anyone for shook swarming?

I think I don't have to worry about crystallization of the OSR honey in the supers maybe more De-Frosting it before extraction!

23degs last week 3degs today! 20degs drop!

And right now, I've got +10C and strong sun, with bees 'on a mission' as normal, with even a few orientation flights.
Not here yet, I suppose. I'd topped up food and replaced insulation super in anticipation.
And the touch of overnight dampness has hardly made any difference to the waterbutts ...

:iagree:

its overcast, we had rain last night. But its 11C right now and the bees are flying

Yes nice and sunny here. Bringing in pollen today, although I have given them an extra frame of stores. They were on 9 frames of brood last time I looked plus 2 supers full of bees. Hopefully we will not get too cold here due to the urban heat island effect of London.

+2C, driving snow, 45mph wind, bigger gusts, trees down, power lines down,

Surprising to relate,, no bees to be seen.:bigear:

12.30 the snow has just turned to rain, may get up to 7degrees! wow!!

teeming with rain first thing but not too cold in South Lincs. Still had to do some essential pre-Easter manipulation just to be on the safe side. I felt like a magician as i kept clear polycarbonate sheets on top of every item (hive, super, excluder) at all times and just slid sheets out as necessary once in place. Quick procedure.

In case there is good enough weather for a rape flow I added a couple of supers (with newspaper between) to my strongest hive which were given a second brood box last week and now seem to motoring along.

Second strongest hive (still single brood) had a spare super added to the one put on last week (again just in case and with newspaper).

One of last years nucs which made it into a full box by end of summer had finished it's fondant and was busy filling the space with comb so eke off and super on.

rest all ISQ - peeped through CBs only.

.
days +1, nights -8. Snow cover in different parts 0-100 cm.

Hundreds of cars in collision on Tampere roads. heavy snowfall.

Bees bring water to brood if they can.

Could I ask why you put newspaper between the supers. I have done that between brood boxes when uniting two hives, but never with supers. Is it just so as not to give them too much space for nectar?

just so that they don't have a massive dead space above them initially. could've also placed a feeder board between them. just don't want to be caught out when the rape flow starts in earnest.

Day before 19˚
Sleet yesterday
Howling gale last night. Woke twice and listened to the wind race through the trees.
3˚ with a brisk NE wind this morning though it has just brightened up and it's 9˚

Dithered and dithered after opening up cedar colony on 28th.
22nd: brood on three /four frames
28th: seven full frames of brood, lots of nectar in empty spaces so supered with a poly box and 2 days ago put in the tray under the floor.
Praying now

What's happened to the famous Finnish drivers then! Thought they were all wizz drivers on snow and ice. That's what we keep getting told once we have 10mm of snow and Britain grines to a halt.
Keep smiling it's amost spring...

Maybe similar weather in Finland to here, according to metcheck it is going to be cold 6c to 8c daytime temperatures for most of april, with rain, hail and snow..thats for the south west anyway.

Freefall

Liked the sign at the end about double shooting Trespassers.

Back to winter running gear for morning runs: gloves plus warm tops and bottoms.
