Hi Walrus,
..thanks for the help. I didn't take a photo but the drone queen cell I left had been capped (day 11). I've given them new eggs now because they had become hopelessly queenless (because I'd removed the viable queen cells in my confusion). I found a bit on the internet about these dud drone queen cells and my post #4 on this thread describes how I have found them before. Common here with my splits. It seems they die in the cells.
