I got the BBKA newsletter in the post with the ***** proof instructions of how to log on, which I did last night. My old blog has gone. There are no blogs.
It is true that I am a technoprawn and may have got all mixed up, but I couldn't see other things like a membership list or whose online either.
I found out from my Mum (when she asked for my log in name and password for this forum) that she has been logging on all those years to the BBKA as me... so when she has been rating my blogs as excellent from time to time.. it will look like that I have extreme immodesty and have been rating myself as excellent!!!
Due to the film crew being at the allotment on Sunday, I didn't manage to go through all the hives, so I have been fretting about that. The weather has picked up today. It is almost warm enough for swarming. Most of the hives have been artificially swarmed anyway, so they might be OK. There have been a few comments from the plotholders about me expanding my operation, which I am not. I explained why so many more boxes.
The boxes I looked in had stores, and the rest should too, but I am not 100% sure, so am praying for good foraging weather this week, otherwise I may have to go after work to give them a feed.
I am waiting for news on the queens we are rearing as I saw queens in only 2 of the 5 nucs. In one of the possibly Q- ones there was a dodgy over elongated QC in one. (I had put in a test patch of eggs because I suspected the robin and blue tits that have started targeting my drones, would do the same to a queen. It looked as if I may have lost one or more queens on mating flight.) I find these elongated QCs never come to much - I think the explanation in that the queen has separated from the food due to gravity and therefore is not so well fed.
