Hi All
I have only been at my new out apiary a couple of weeks, in that time there has been 2 swarms, one of which i saw up in a tree yesterday, a little cracker, about 10feet up on 1 small branch.
Neither have been from my hives, marked queens still present and yesterday i clipped them, so i know they are secure for now.
I know there is possibly a local bee farmer who has hives somewhere in the vicinity, so i guess they have come from there.
My question is - how far will a swarm initially travel when it exits the hive ? some that i have seen have not moved more than 50-100 foot, i would like some opinions so i can then try and guage where these hives could possibly be ?
