Checked test frame this afternoon. No sign of any queen cells, eggs are now larvea and rest brood. Carefully checked rest of frames, no queen sighted.no queen cells, no new eggs, no new brood. Some frames appeared to have a high proportion of drones. Checked other 2 hives just in case there might have been a queen cell, no luck.
Suggestions please.

Bob

Sounds like you have an unmated queen in the hive.

It has taken me up to 5 inspections to find her before..

Go back in and just look for a queen.

If you get another queen put her in the hive in her cage and check 20 minutes later and if you have a queen already she will be around the cage.

my 2 hives seamed to reduce there laying when we had the bad 3 or 4 weeks of weather. i checked the hives a few days ago and found 4 queen cells in one of them with brood in various stages and a few eggs couldnt see the queen tho in either hive and looked like the bees had been back filling the cells with honey. is this normal behaviour.
