I decided to leave three QC in a split to see if the first virgin out would killed the other two as the theory goes. She did, but she missed one that I had missed too! However, when they swarmed she did not go with them which was obvious from the swarms behaviour. They were aimlessly swarming around, some were sitting in the hedge and others singly on leaves in a low tree near the hive. Back they went and in I went. Could hear her on the second frame in from the hive entrance. Found a very nice QC and decided to nuc the Q instead of the QC. Just a thought, if I had done it the other way round might they have swarmed leaving the hive -Q as they were in the mood for swarming?
