Could not possibly be a swarm because the books say that can not happen if it is raining or about to rain, and we are enjoying a typical English summer,,,, which leads me to the question why do bees swarm in Wales where it rains all the time?

Without seeing if it had a laying queen, its impossible to say if its a prime or caste.
