I was given a swarm on Thursday, and I have put them into a brood chamber with frames of foundation on an open OMF. I was surprised to see that last night the garden temperature here dropped to 4 degrees centigrade, . Would it make sense to close off the floor to keep the temperature up to help them draw wax?

As per the last post, you might want to close off the floor for a week or two. And a feed will help them on their way.

Be sure to put the full complement of frames in your box, even though your swarm might only cover 2 or 3 frames. Do not put the full complement of frames in and they will build wild comb on the crownboard.

And watch for wasp trouble. Do not spill syrup about. Run hive with entrance block in.
